Global Education Unit

I chose to do my Global Education Unit called "Climate Change Hits Home"  due to the fact that our NC town was devastated by Hurricane Helene on September 27, 2024. Several students and teachers lost their homes. Schools were damaged. We did not have power, water, nor electricity for weeks.

Many in our mountainous, inland town never thought a hurricane could ever affect us.  We were wrong. Those who never gave a thought to climate change and how it impacted their daily lives, now were believers.  I expected that students now have a personal connection to this global concern and that we can learn to take action locally and globally.
